Not-for-profit community groups, organisations and individuals in Parramatta will soon be able to apply for a share in almost half a million dollars in funding through Parramatta City Council’s 2016 Community Grants program.
The annual grant program supports eligible groups and individuals to undertake projects, initiatives and activities that foster opportunities for community participation and community development.
“We know these grants are important for organisations and individuals working in the community. They assist with the provision of projects and programs that contribute greatly to the vibrancy and viability of our local area,” Lord Mayor of Parramatta Cr Paul Garrard said.
“Each year it is encouraging to see the number of people and organisations coming forward with innovative and interesting ideas for project partnerships that help build a strong and healthy community.
“I am pleased that Council is investing $480,000 of vital funds back into the community this year, where it is needed most.
Parramatta City Council is inviting grant applications from all sections of the community, including younger and older people, culturally and linguistically diverse communities and people with disabilities.
“Whether it’s a multicultural playgroup, a project to build aviaries for at-risk wildlife, replacing exhibition equipment or technology classes for seniors, there are a wide range of projects that are eligible under this program,” Cr Garrard said.
The 2016 funding falls under four main categories:
Applications for the annual Community Grants open at 9am on Monday 2 November 2015 and close on Friday 4 December 2015 at 4pm. The next round of quarterly Small Grants Fund and Parramatta Sport & Recreation Grants close on Friday 6 November 2015.
To assist applicants with grant writing, Council will be holding two workshops at the Parramatta Library on Wednesday 4 November from 1.30pm to 3.30pm, and Wednesday 18 November 2015 from 5.30pm to 6.30pm.
